NewsMutual Funds record breaking AuM of 2195 billion
The Italian asset management industry closed the first half of the year with a rally, as mutual investment funds surged: in June, the industry attracted net investments of 1.5 billion euros, and assets under management increased to a record-breaking 2.195 billion.
The surge put an end to a string of monthly net outflows. The return of capitals to funds is consistent with the waning of the Mifid effect and with renewed optimism on the financial markets, which have resumed scoring gains following the accommodative turn taken by the major central banks. The most sought-after categories of funds were bond funds (which are set to benefit most from potential ECB and Fed measures) and liquidity funds, considered as offering precautionary shelter against volatility peaks.
The positive results achieved by the asset management business last month were largely due to investment inflows attracted by Intesa Sanpaolo (+2.4 billion, with Eurizon contributing almost 2.5 billion).
