ESG Revolution Conference
The "Join the ESG revolution" conference, organized by the Croatian Insurance Bureau (HUO) with the partnership of Eurizon Asset Management Croatia Ltd, was held in Zagreb on 29th September.
During the conference panelists discussed on topics like ESG Regulation, Circular Economy, NetZero by 2030 and Stewarship, and offered interesting answers to the questions of how to make the smartest and long-term investments, bearing in mind global challenges, including those related to climate change and degradation environment. The conference brought together numerous domestic and foreign experts who discussed one of today's most relevant business topics and who, through concrete examples and discussion, offered useful solutions for corporations and business community.
During the conference it was emphasized that the concept of sustainable business has become one of key priorities, and among other topics the one regarding how to address global challenges while developing new values for the corporations through collaboration with investment.
Marin Hrešić, CEO of Eurizon Asset Management Croatia Ltd, said that “Over the last 25 years Eurizon has been constantly committed to sustainability and to the continuous innovation. We consider that in order not to fall into the risk of greenwashing it is important to have the data available and regulation is certainly helping in providing uniform transparency models. However, it is important, as for the companies in which we invest, to adopt a robust and solid governance and this is undoubtedly our distinctive point which should help us in the future, as we work to realize our net zero commitments. Federica Calvetti, Head of ESG and Strategic Activism - Eurizon Capital SGR, attended the panel to express the importance of European taxonomy, that will play a key role in preventing Greenwashing:
“In the coming years, the European taxonomy will be instrumental in defining what is an “environmentally sustainable” economic activity: this is not only useful for investors, but also to issuers and therefore plays a key role in maintaining the integrity of overall the green market, creating security and protecting from the risk of greenwashing”.
The conference ended with an important message to the participants, which also reflects the mission of Eurizon:
